Biography: Lara Johnston, Daughter of Tom Johnston
Lara Johnston is daughter of guitarist and vocalist, Tom Johnston, co-founder of the Doobie Brothers, a popular rock group from the 1970s. The Doobie Brothers had many hits including “Listen to the Music,” and “Rockin’ Down the Highway.” In 1975, Johnston was replaced in the band due to a severe illness. His health eventually restored, but Johnston chose to leave the group in 1977, pursuing a solo career which produced two albums.

Growing up, Lara sang in musicals (her role in The Wizard of Oz in seventh grade was particularly rewarding), at school assemblies, at churches, and in her High School choir. In 2006, she was awarded a first place singer for performing “Chain of Fools” at the USA Showcase. She has also performed at the Bruce Cohn Fall Music Festival, and made a guest performance at a Doobie Brothers/Willie Nelson concert in Maui. Most recently, Lara sang for the Tony Larussais Animal Rescue Foundation, and she continues to sing with her school Soul Band at basketball games.
Lara is currently working on her demo album.
